General Elections - Rome, Italy

With the backdrop of the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, Italians are preparing to elect a new government when polls open for two days from 24 to 25 February. Economically embattled Italy will be asked to choose between a centre-right coalition of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's PDL party, Mario Monti's centrist coalition, and Pier Luigi Bersani's Democratic Party on the left, among others.
